What Is A True AMG?
AMG actually stands for – “Aufrecht Melcher Grossaspach”. It is the shortened form of Hans Werner Aufrect (A) and Erhard Melcher (M) – the founders of the company – and Großaspach (G), a village in Germany where Aufrect was born. The name actually pays tribute to the company’s founders. AMG is an independent division of Mercedes-Benz.
How do you tell if it's a real AMG?
Registered. Take a look under the hood and look at the engine. If it has the signature plaque, it's an AMG.
What are true AMG cars?
Best thought of as the answer to BMW's M Performance range or perhaps Audi's S-badged cars, the wares of the short-lived brand were intended to channel the fury of the full-blown AMG stuff at a lower cost and with more modest cylinder counts.

The C43 may be quick, but the C63 is fast. Really fast. The standard C63 even rides better at lower speeds, but we can blame the silly 19s we specced on the V6 car for that - right now, we're rolling on 18-wheels with big, squashy tyre sidewalls.
It's reliable, sporty, fun, and overall a bang for your buck. It's the middle ground between the standard C300 and the bonkers C63S. If your in the market for a new or used Mercedes C43 I definitely recommend! Rating breakdown (out of 5):
C43, C-43 or C. 43 may refer to:
C43 AMG, a Mercedes-Benz C-Class automobile. C-43 Traveler, a United States Army Air Force aircraft which saw service prior to World War II. Caldwell 43 (NGC 7814, "the little sombrero"), a spiral galaxy in the constellation Pegasus.
The 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is a development of a unit you'll find in the A-Class, but it uses a twin-scroll turbocharger for immediate throttle response.
Performance and Economy
A high-performance engine is at the core of any AMG model, and in the A35 that is a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol that turns out 306hp. To make the most of this, and boost grip on slippery roads, you get a four-wheel-drive system as standard.
Gallery: Mercedes-AMG A35 Versus A45S
The A45 S develops over 100 more horsepower – 416 bhp versus 302 bhp – than the A35. It also gets bigger brakes and wider tyres, and as a result, it absolutely trounces the A35 at the track.
The Mercedes-AMG GT is a high-performance car, but buyers still demand reliability from their sports cars for everyday driving. Mercedes hasn't fared too well in recent years in our Driver Power customer satisfaction survey, but the AMG GT feels solidly build, and at least a match for the Porsche 911.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is painfully expensive
At $325,000 a pop, the AMG GT Black Series is not only the most expensive Mercedes-Benz model, but it's also significantly more expensive than other AMG GT sports cars.
But how long do Mercedes last? With proper maintenance, Mercedes can last 13-17 years on average. Considering an average yearly mileage of around 15,000, that means that Mercedes can last anywhere from 200,000 to 250,000 miles before major repairs are needed.
